Olivamine is a patented antioxidant formulation that protects against free radicals throughout the body. This is important because free radicals can lead to inflammation, cell death, and disease if they are not properly neutralized. There is an ever-expanding body of evidence that links free radical damage and inflammation into almost all disease processes in the body, making this a key focus of medical research and intervention.
The effects of Olivamine were first researched in skin cells. The findings resulted in the first patents being issued for improved wound healing, activation of cellular antioxidant systems, increasing cellular lifespan, and more. The incorporation of Olivamine into medical-grade skin care products resulted in the birth of an industry-leading line of skin care products used in hospitals and nursing facilities around the world.
Based on the ongoing research, the decision was made to provide the benefits of Olivamine to the rest of the body by incorporating it into a line of quality dietary supplements. The research continues to grow showing that Olivamine has additional benefits in all types of cells found throughout the body. Currently, our researchers have been issued multiple patents with additional patents pending based on the scientific findings with Olivamine. It has been shown to activate and deactivate specific genes that are implicated in many health conditions in the growing field of epigenetics.
Hydroxytyrosol (Olive leaf extract) Glycine, Taurine, N-acetyl-l-cysteine, Proline, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B6, and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM),
Now, let’s break them down:
Hydroxytyrosol from olive leaf extract, is amongst the most potent dietary antioxidants ever discovered. Its small molecular size and solubility in both water and oil means it's able to easily get inside cells where it has been shown to activate some of the most potent natural defense mechanisms. Research indicates that hydroxytyrosol has the ability to protect cells from stress, slow the growth of certain cancer cells, and increase the lifespan of healthy cells. We include it in our supplements specifically for its demonstrated ability to increase genetic expression and production of one of the cells most potent antioxidants that helps protect the mitochondria from free-radical damage, MnSOD (manganese superoxide dismutase).
N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) is a natural dietary amino acid that is required to help produce one of the cell's most important antioxidants, glutathione. Because of NAC and glutathione's important role in protecting the cells and detoxifying the body, NAC is often the first line treatment in hospitals around the world for liver damage caused by toxic doses of some drugs such as acetaminophen. (Note: glutathione cannot be absorbed orally, so NAC is used orally to raise levels of glutathione in the body)
MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a natural source of bioavailable dietary sulfur, included here to encourage and support the body's production of sulfur-containing amino acids. These are necessary for protein synthesis and proper protein folding (important stuff!)
Glycine, L-Taurine, and Proline, are important dietary amino acids with antioxidant capacity that have been shown to provide biochemical synergy with hydroxytyrosol, MSM, and NAC. Glycine is known to have protective effects in cells that have been depleted of their primary energy source, ATP. L-taurine functions as an antioxidant, especially protective against lipid peroxidation in cellular membranes. Proline is essential for stimulating DNA synthesis which will not occur if proline is absent.
Vitamins B3 and B6 are essential co-factors required for many of the biochemical systems at play here including multiple enzymatic processes, amino acid metabolism, mitochondrial energy production, free radical scavenging, and more. They are essentially helper molecules that support all of the complicated processes going on.
It's not just the blend of these specific ingredients that makes them special - it's the precise amounts of each specific ingredient and how they work together to benefit the cells in your body. All of the ingredients have been tested individually and in various combinations to determine the precise balance for specific cellular responses such as increased expression of certain genes and antioxidant systems including MnSOD. After years of research, the formula was dialed in to give us our patented Olivamine 10® Max formula that is included in all Pinnaclife products.
Even people eating a healthy diet frequently come up short on many nutrients. For example, we've known for decades that more fiber is important for good health but national surveys indicate fewer than 3% of people eat enough fiber every day. I'm willing to bet there's more than 3% of the population that believes they are eating a whole healthy diet.
We look at supplements as a sort of insurance policy - making sure that all the gaps are covered even when our diets fall short. That's especially true since the nutrient content of most fruits and vegetables has been on the decline over the past 40 - 50 years.
Also, there are a number of beneficial nutrients that you just cannot get enough of from diet alone. For example, the most potent antioxidants with the most proven benefits from olives - hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein - are very bitter tasting, so olives and olive oils generally undergo some light processing that reduces the concentration of these compounds to make more palatable foods. They are still present in olives and olive oil, but in such small amounts that you would have to drink gallons of olive oil or consume hundreds of green olives to get the antioxidant capacity found in concentrated extracts used in supplements. Disclaimer: I do not recommend drinking gallons of olive oil or eating hundreds of olives!
Another good example is curcumin, the potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound found in turmeric. It is not absorbed very well from food sources, so to get enough to start seeing health benefits you generally need to use a supplement that contains a soluble form of curcumin.

Consider that your body normally gets vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients when you eat a meal. So it makes sense to also use nutritional supplements with a meal as a way to boost the nutritional content. I consider nutritional supplements like another bite of my meal - the one with all the nutrients in it. It's best to use things like MultiVitamins with breakfast or lunch because some of the vitamins can help you feel energized throughout the day.
An exception would be for supplements that you use at bedtime, such as Sleep Support. It's best to avoid eating too much before bedtime because it can cause heartburn and indigestion that disrupt your sleep. It's fine to use them with a small snack if you prefer.
You should never rule out the possibility that any food, supplement, or medication might interact with other medications. Foods are not as likely to interact with a prescription medication but it is definitely still possible. The fact that Pinnaclife supplements are made with nutrients found naturally in the diet means they are most likely not going to interact with medications any more than whole foods might, but there is always a possiblity
If you use prescription medications, you should always check with your personal health care provider before making any major changes in your diet, use of dietary supplements, or over-the-counter and prescription medications.
All of the Pinnaclife supplements have a recommended serving size of 2 capsules (except the Prebiotic Fiber powder which is 1 scoop or packet). I frequently tell people it's not a bad idea to start with one to make sure you tolerate it OK, and once you know that you can go ahead and increase to the recommended dose.
If you feel like you need to take more than the recommended amount, it is best to check with your personal healthcare provider who can evaluate your individual situation and provide direction.
It is a good practice with most medications and dietary supplements to only start with one individual product to establish that you tolerate it, then add additional products. This will help you identify if a specific product causes you any issues. For example, if you take 4 new medications all at once and then get a stomach ache, how do you know which medication caused the problem? But if you add them one at a time over a few days, and the stomach ache doesn't happen until the third medication - you would know that the first two were fine and the third one caused you the issue. This concept also applies to dietary supplements and whole foods as well.
